This is a nice old piece that is well carved. As you can see by my title I am not quite sure of its compostition. It is warm to the touch and a bit darker than it appears in my photographs as I had to use my flash. It is in very good condition with no damage that I can find. The top of the rosewood stand is attached to the base with a peg. The rosewood portion measures. 6 3/8 tall and 7/16 thick. The base of it is 3 3/16 by 1 1/4 . The pegs that held the carved plaque in place are present and obviously original but have come out of their holes. I have photographs of the back of the carved piece for you to see. The carved piece remains in place just fine until you invert it. You could easily glue it back in place it you wanted to. If anyone out there can tell me anything about this piece such as its age, origin or composition I would really appreciate an email. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
